I am finding replacement swing arm senders to be of \u003cbr\u003einferior quality and not built nearly as robust as the units built 20 \u003cbr\u003eyears ago, (surprise??) Our shop has installed new replacement name \u003cbr\u003ebrand swing arm style senders into boats that did not make a year in \u003cbr\u003eservice before they began to fail. The Reed style sender is a direct \u003cbr\u003ereplacement for the swing arm style without the mechanical contact over \u003cbr\u003eopen windings. The float moves up \u0026amp; down and magnetically opens \u003cbr\u003e\/closes reed switches contained inside a stainless sealed tube, fuel \u003cbr\u003esloshing will not affect the switches. Our shop will only replace with \u003cbr\u003ethis reed style sender and expect another 20+ years of service from this\u003cbr\u003e style sender.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eNOTE\u003c\/strong\u003e: You \u003cstrong\u003eMUST\u003c\/strong\u003e use a sender that is  shorter than your tank depth.
