Drive Damper - Ford
***MADE IN THE USA***
This is the "clipped ear" drive damper used for the older Ford 351w engine with the smaller flywheel. Only (3) bolts will be used to attach the replacement damper, ALWAYS use "Blue" Locktite on your bolts.
(Same as our MED-0005 except the ears have been clipped)
This is the common replacement for Ford Small Blocks under 300 HP using the Borg Warner Velvet Drive or ZF 1:1 direct drive transmissions with 26 tooth spline.
WILL NOT WORK with the PCM 40 transmissions with the little 15 tooth input shaft.
USE LockTite on the bolt threads!
Strange rattling, metalic sounds coming the the back of your engine, worse at idle, high eng. hours?? This is typically from the drive damper going bad.
Replacement Notes: Remove exhaust near trans, remove trans mount bolts to boat & drive-shaft coupling, loosen front pinion bolts & WD-40 pinion. Hoist rear eng. w/trans, remove trans, remove bellhousing, remove drive plate. Carefully choose bolt holes in new damper, attach with same bolts (Typically only 3 bolts used, original may have had 6) USE LOCKTITE on threads. reinstall bell-housing, apply spline grease, trans should slide easily into drive if bolted up correctly. Put back together.
