Starter, Top Mount Marine

New MARINE Top Mount 14" Starter (new style permanent magnet, aluminum mount) Replaces the old iron end bearing support type. For NORMAL ROTATION Engines as used in All American Skiers and most ski boats using a top mount starter.  (2 Bolt mount is 4.125" apart) (9 tooth starter gear)

If your starter is located alongside the oil pan and enters the bellhousing from the front, you have a Bottom Mount Starter

If your starter is between or under the exhaust pipes, above the transmission, and enters the bellhousing from the rear of the engine you have a TOP MOUNT Starter. Note: a "Normal" automotive rotation engine requires a "reverse" rotation starter when a TOP MOUNT starter is used.

NOT For Older 3 bolt flange Commanders with the optional top mount starter

WIRING: Large battery cable attaches to the large post with loose nut (further away from starter body)  Small yellow wire from Ignition switch goes the the smaller terminal/post as shown in the insert pic (looking from the rear of the starter it is on the right side)

NOTE: After confirming fitment we recommend painting the new starter with Rustoleum before final installation.
