Pertronix Flame Thrower II Complete Billet Marine Distributor with Ignitor II Electronic Ignition      4/22/21 Now Shipping with Flamethrower Ignition Coil!!

Replacement Marine (Marine Approved SAE J1171) Complete Distributor for the Ford 351W   Standard Marine Left Hand Rotation (Most all Ski boats with Fords except Correct Crafts with Right Hand Rotation) American Skiers, Ski Supremes, MasterCrafts, etc. If you are not sure about your engines rotation, please call.

Ski Boats with 70's, 80's, 90's Commander, PCM, Indmar Ford 351W engines with Prestolite, or Mallory distributors all have mechanical advance (points or elect. ign) and the small springs that control the advance mechanism eventually wear out, break, or simply rust and break. These springs are no longer available, replacing with "similar" springs may result in too much advance or too little advance. There are other manufacturers making replacement distributors but we have found this one to be the best value for the money.

If your engine is suddenly backfiring and won't accelerate you will need to place a timing light on the engine and see if the timing mark moves (advances) as the rpm increases, if it stays in place and does not advance with increased RPM your distributor is NOT advancing, further investigation will most likely reveal broken advance springs below the points base plate. Given the hours that most of the these engines now have on them the bearings are also going to be worn so we recommend simply replacing the whole distributor.

DOES NOT FIT FORD 289/302 ENGINES!!!!!  The 302 has a slightly smaller hole (1.500") the 351 is approx. 1.560" hole

This is not an inquiry but rather a compliment to Ron Tanis.

I recently ordered parts for my 1988 Mastercraft Prostar 190, a Petronix distributor; plug wires and coil. They came to me exactly as ordered and fit the engine exactly. Engine ran great first time started and since.

His video on how to install a Petronix distributor and coil were very valuable, as well as his winterizing videos. Only part of it that I did not see was how to find TDC of compression cycle. Otherwise great job. I will be buying my parts again from your company.

I wanted to let you know my experience with the electronic ignition conversion. I was having a lot of trouble with hard starts with the points and condenser (and a sloppy distributor). I kept thinking it was a carburetor issue. I have had the carb off and on so many times! Cleaning, checking orifices, etc. Then an old friend of mine told me something an old mechanic had told him, "90 percent of people's carburetor problems are ignition". That made sense so I ordered your conversion and I couldn't be happier. This spring start up was the easiest ever. No endless cranking, pulling plugs, pulling the carb, and on and on. Now I am comfortable letting my wife take trips without me whereas before I was always worried that the boat would fail to start and she wouldn't know what to do.

I was a new boat owner with no experience on working on boat motors. My 1985 Supra would barley get on plane and loose power at 20mph.
