This is a great replacement transmission for the Borg Warner Velvet Drive 1:1 used on most older direct drive ski boats. Not a replacement for V-drives or PCM 1.23 : 1 gears

Our ZF 45C 1:1 Transmission's INCLUDE the Mounting Bolt/Stud Kit needed to convert from Borg-Warner Velvet Drive to ZF

ALL American Skiers used the Velvet drive transmission from 1976 - 1995, and then began using the ZF 45C from 1996+

Can also be used to replace the PCM 40 gear, will need a new damper plate to fit.

Set up for Left Hand Prop rotation (Std. rotation)  Shipped Dry, you will need 2 qts of Dextron III  ATF Oil.

It is always recommended to replace the drive damper plate when installing a new transmission.

It is also recommended to clean & blow out the trans oil cooler, or replace if oil was milky in old trans.

We watched the YouTube Video which gave us the confidence to replace our bad velvet drive in our old MasterCraft, not only did Ski Boat Parts have the only transmission that included the special bolts to make the swap very easy, one call to Skiboatparts to answer a simple question & we did it ourselves and saved a ton of $$ THANKS!!

The trans went out in my 92 Malibu, the dealer wanted $3900 for a new Velvet Drive, PLUS $1200 to swap them out. I called Ski Boat Parts, they shipped me a new ZF, & with a couple of 15 min calls to Mr. Ron he walked me through the install, me and my ski buddy did the swap ourselves in 5 hours. Hardest part was removing the exhaust hose, Ron told me how to lift the engine without cranes. Boat runs like new again, the whole job cost way less than 1/2 what the dealer wanted and it was done much quicker!! AND I get bragging rights that I changed it myself.

Thank you for jumping on the phone during a holiday weekend to ensure that i was able to order a ZF transmission before none were available.

My wife and i installed it, and we have since happily skied several times. TRD enabled us to keep a perfectly good craft on the water when all the dealers told us they will not repair any boat older than 10 years.

Short story Reverse went out on our velvet drive on the Saturday before 4th of July got home did a quick search on the internet and found Rons video replacing the same velvet drive in an older ski boat. Called on Monday morning and talked with Ron and Sara couple times and got lucky with the last ZX-45 he had in stock. After making sure I wanted to pay the extra 2 day shipping they sent it out that morning and I received it Wednesday evening. Installed it in the boat that night after watching Ron’s video again and it worked flawlessly. Thank you so much to all of you as it saved my wife’s birthday and 4th of July camping trip. I really appreciate the information and service from you all!!!
