Some of the older Ski Centurion boats used a steel shaft log screwed to a molded hull flange. These are all prone to rusting from the inside out. Conventional aluminum and brass shaft logs will not fit these applications. We have designed a Stainless Steel improved Shaft log. The TRD version uses a stainless tube that has a rolled edge to retain your hose clamp and is Tig welded to a stainless oversize base plate. We recommend not screwing into the fiberglass flange but prefer to drill (2) 1/4" holes through the "wings" one on each side through the flange and use 1/4" stainless bolts and 3M 5200 caulk to secure the shaft log.

Ron had my boat in for a shaft alignment and found that my shaft log had holes rusted through it!! I could not believe the factory built my boat this way. Ron fabricated a replacement from Stainless plate and Stainless tube. The original had no rolled edge to help keep the hose/clamp on, Ron rolled a bead on the tube for clamp retention, then instead of using several small screws he used a couple of stainless machine screws & a lock-nut with caulk. I was the proto-type guinea pig, but it sure turned out nice, 100% improvement of the original! This is the way to go!!
